Garden Shed Pool
Fabulous looks that don’t break the bank.
The designer did not get a brief for this pool, as it is in his own house in North West London. The only client instruction was from the four year old daughter who wanted a waterfall and as in quite a few cases, the small space dictated the design.
To achieve a modern look, the barebones flat roof building was clad in wide black feather edge with bi-fold doors running two thirds of the length of the pool. Colour change lights in the ceiling help in keeping the interest alive for kids.
Location : London
Project Cost : £120k
Putting a pool in a garden building
A garden building is often the most affordable route to an indoor pool, but it must be treated as a pool hall, not a shed. That means proper insulation and a vapour control layer, a dehumidifier sized to the water surface area, and finishes that tolerate constant humidity.
Bi-fold doors let the pool open to the garden in summer and help with ventilation. Whether a building like this needs planning permission depends on its size, height and position, so we check that with you at the design stage.
